| XZ Tour Grand Final- Day 1 THE XZ Tour Grand Final started with mixed reactions as several noted players were shown the boot in the first day of the inaugural meet held at the XZ Club in Petaling Jaya yesterday. National pool experts Patrick Ooi and Ibrahim Amir had their own story to tell as the former lost 3-1 to John Yong. Ibrahim however was forced to sweat it out before edging Lai Chee Wei 3-2 in another match. "Lai was playing well but most probably he was nervous today as he missed a few crucial balls," said Ibrahim. "I played my normal game and mostly utilized my experience to overcome the young player's form," the seasoned player added. Goh Boon Sun overcame his jitters playing in the newly established XZ Club after defeating JH Leong 3-1. "I played fairly okay today as I am not familiar with the environment. This is my first time playing here in XZ Club and fortunately it is a very comfortable place to play," "However, I hope that my match form picks up tomorrow," Boon Sun added. National champion Ng Ann Seng had a rousing start, nailing Lang Kuak Yow 3-0 while national player Roslan Yurnalis also advanced to the following round after edging Sam Ho 3-2. Last year's national Under-21 finalists Thor Chuan Leong and Mohd Fithri met once again with Chuan Leong winning 3-2. |
