SUPER SUPOJ

Supoj Saenla came up trumps in the SangSom-Suphan Buri Thailand Cup with a 4-1 defeat of Malaysia's Moh Keen Hoo on Sunday.

Home favourite Supoj was rewarded with a glittering trophy, which he received from Suphan Buri Governor Songphol Thimasart at the Khum Suphan Hotel, and the top purse of 100,000 baht, while Moh returned home 50,000 baht richer.

Moh, who had knocked out James Wattana in the semi-finals, took the first frame before Supoj, from Chiang Mai in Thailand, won the next four to the delight of a large crowd.

"I am glad to have won my second Thai ranking title this season and I am happy with the way I have played this year," said 25-year-old Supoj, the 2001 Asian under-21 champion.

"I wasn't very confident in the beginning, but then regained my rhythm when Moh started missing. I would not that say that I played at my best today, but still did enough to win the title.

"I think it has something to do with my English billiards training in the 2006 Asian Games camp. It has improved my ability to control the cue ball a lot."

Moh said: "I don't know what went wrong. When Supoj went 3-1 up, I wasn't thinking of completing a hat-trick of titles in Thailand anymore. I knew then there was nothing I could to stop him from winning."
