1st Maximum Break in Malaysia's Snooker History
Wednesday, August 30th 2006

Chan Wai Ki will go into Malaysia's snooker history as the first player to construct a maximum break of 147 points in a tournament. Playing against Rismen Teh of Century Break in the Last 16 match, he was leading 3-1 needing only 1 frame to advance to the Quarter Final stage. After a safety shot, Chan potted the first red and the rest was history.

Asking him what was his feeling after his 4-1 win over Rismen, "I was just playing my own game and did not really planned it. After getting to the 10th red then only I realized I was en route to a maximum break. Holding hard on to my nerves, I slowly composed my remaining shots and got through it."

"Now at least I know my name will be in Malaysia's snooker history for what I like doing most", he said jokingly.

Chan later went on to win Benjamin Lee in the quarter final 5-0 and become the hot favourite to win the title.

Tomorrow semi finals starts at 5pm. Semi Final 1 will be Chan Wai Ki versus Lee Hwa Meng and Semi Final 2 will be John Loh versus Supoj Saenla. Semi Finals will be played over Best of 11 frames.
